The Fourfold Hearth
the tavern where elementals trade stories and scorch marks
You step through a warped doorway and the air itself seems to split into four: a warm orange glow licking one wall, mist curling against another, a gust that tugs at cloaks and whistles through pipes, and a low, mineral heartbeat underfoot. The common room is circular, divided by low stone ribs that channel each element into its corner: a hearth of living coals that chatters like a crowd, a shallow pool that burbles gossip, a wind-whorl where voices ride the breeze, and a mound of smooth stones that occasionally rearrange themselves to clear a path. The noise is glorious — laughter that rings like chimes, ale-sloshed curses that evaporate into steam, and the thump of rock-voices like distant drums. Patrons leave scorch-marks on the table, droplets on the floor that shimmer before vanishing, and pebbles that clack in time with a tune. Lamps burn with a confined flame; the smell is a layered thing — singed herb, sea-salt, ozone, and wet earth — and the room hums with the sense that rules bend differently here.
A heavy iron ring hung from braided lightning-rod chain; four symbols — flame, wave, gust and stone — are punched into the ring and blackened from repeated contact. The ring swings with no wind, casting dancing shadows on the lintel.

5 spA layered glass that sings: hot syrup at the bottom, chilled mist in the middle, a froth of wind on top, and a pebble of flavored salt that pops and dissolves — drinking it leaves your voice slightly colored by an elemental aspect (DM determines effect: faint warmth, chill, airy echo, or gravelly undertone) for 1 hour, granting advantage on one persuasion check with elementals.

Merv the Tollkeeper patrols the Salted Spiral Gate and is said to accept stories as toll—Branith's ledger lists several borrowers who promised to sing a tale to Merv.
2
Deep in the Sundering Quarry a rusted 'Iron Seed' hums beneath collapsed strata; Garrun Pebblegut claims it will 'root a storm' if unearthed.

The Singing Basin holds a drowned bell that rings only at full moon; Mist-Whisper swears a lost hymn inside it can map a short route across the Sea of Vapors.
