Quadrant Lantern
the inn where four elements argue over the ale
You push through a broad stone portal and the air inside snaps with tiny weather: sparks hop from the hearth to greet you, a cool breeze snakes between benches, and a thin spray mists the rafters where water patrons linger. The common room is a collision of elements—braziers gutter with living embers, a central whirlpool-basin churns small cups of water, wind-chimes chatter with real gusts that tug at cloaks, and slabs of living rock double as stools. The din is constant and alive: laughter that crackles like kindling, the slap of a water-singer's tail against a table, and the clack of stone-backed patrons exchanging blunt gossip. Light comes from the Lantern itself, a low, rotating globe that throws quartered hues across the room; shadows split and rejoin where elements meet. Customers range from emberfolk with singed cloaks to airy sprites riding chairs, water-wraiths folded into glass bottles, and squat stonefolk who chew conversations like hard candy. The air smells of scorched spice, brine, and sour ale; spilled ale steams where it touches flame and beads up into droplets on stone knees. A GM should notice the subtle boundary markers—runes burned into the floor that keep the elements from annihilating the furniture—and the low hum behind the bar like something trying to breathe.
A heavy iron ring split into four quartered panels that slowly rotate: a glyph of flame, a curling wave, a gusting spiral, and a fist of stone. The paint is blistered from heat on one quarter and pitted on another; no letters, only the moving quarters.

Merri · barmaid
A wind-touched halfling who darts through tables carrying steaming bowls, trading gossip for extra tips and blowing embers out of patrons' hair with a flick of her wrist.
Grek Stonehand · bouncer
A broad, taciturn earth-man whose knuckles are actual knobby rock; he prefers to settle disputes by rearranging chairs and faces until everyone apologizes.
Suirn of the Ripple · water-server
A liquid-bodied server who pours cups from a bowl nested in its palm and speaks in wet clicks, always ready with a restorative splash to soothe singes or bruises.
Flint-Voice Raal
A veteran fire-kin who boasts of raids on planar caravans and is always looking for mercenaries to recover a charred map piece rumored to point to the Ember Vault.
Mistmother Yori
An elderly mist-wraith who hums old sea-songs and hints that a sunken bell at Kol's Deepwell rings still under certain tides and could wake sleeping things.
Craghold Anvek
A stony ex-guard of the Stonehand Delve who wants a small, engraved hammer taken back from a local gang of stone-slick thieves; he'll trade knowledge for help.
1
Stormspire: a wind-mad djinn at the Stormspire has been gouging gusts into nearby trade routes; Bromm's shard in the bar was said to quiet the first of its storms before it escaped containment.
2
Kol's Deepwell: Mistmother Yori insists that a silver bell sunk in Kol's Deepwell rings once every winter-moon; those who hear it can locate a hidden chamber of drowned lanterns.
3
Stonehand Delve: Craghold Anvek claims a gang called the Slick Fingers stole the 'Hammer of Sills' from Stonehand Delve; the hammer is engraved with a map that leads to a small buried vault of rune-ore.
