Grahnok
Orc Elite Warrior
Grahnok is a hulking, disciplined orc veteran who moves with the calm brutality of a seasoned frontline commander. Clad in battered scale and a patched iron shield, he plants his spear like a pike and holds ground against surges of foes, barking terse commands to lesser orcs and punishing anyone who dares flank him. He blends practiced technique and raw strength: a spear that finds gaps, a shield that turns blows back on attackers, and an unyielding urge to press the advantage the moment the enemy falters.

Multiattack. Grahnok makes two Spear attacks.
Spear. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d8+5) piercing damage, or 10 (1d10+5) piercing damage if used with two hands to make a versatile attack.
Shield Bash (Bonus Action). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6+5) bludgeoning damage. If the Shield Bash hits, Grahnok can attempt a shove as part of the same action to knock the target prone (Athletics contested by the target's Athletics or Acrobatics).
Parry. Grahnok adds 3 to his AC against one melee attack that would hit him. To do so, Grahnok must see the attacker and be wielding his shield.
Grahnok are not lone berserkers but veterans of the Iron Fang Cohort, a war-band that carved a reputation raiding mountain passes and holding chokepoints for larger orc warhosts. The Iron Fang trains selected warriors in spear-and-shield tactics, teaching them to anchor positions, direct skirmishers, and counter cavalry with disciplined holds. Bards of border villages tell of Grahnok ranks forming like a living palisade across breakneck bridges, their shields clicked together in coordinated defense. Scholars of warfare such as Master Reldin of Harthkeep have written of 'Grahnok files' — small formations led by an elite who uses voice, shield, and spear to turn numbers into a pivot. They lair in ruined watch posts or tunnel chokepoints where their tactics shine; Grahnok fear only concentrated magic and pikes that can match their reach. The Iron Fang Cohort still uses Grahnok as core anchors in sieges, and mercenary captains sometimes pay high coin to draft a single veteran into their lines.
Grahnok stands about 6'2" and heavily muscled, with broad shoulders corded by years of wielding heavy weapons. His skin is mottled olive with old white scars crossing his cheek and forearms. He wears a patchwork of scaled leather and dented iron plates, the right forearm reinforced for shield work. His round shield is large and slightly convex, scored with ringed slashes and a faded iron sigil of three teeth; straps and leather grips are thick from use. His spear is a stout ash shaft tipped with a long, leaf-shaped iron blade — the shaft bears notches marking campaigns. Small trophies (a human coin, a carved tooth) hang at his belt. His hair is cropped to a military stub, and his gaze is hard and assessing. Surface textures: rough iron pitting, leather rough-grain, weathered wood of the spear, grease stains on the joints of armor; overall scale is human-sized with visible weight and solidity in every line.
