Cayden's Hall
the meadhall that never bows
The door opens into a roar — laughter, the clash of heavy wooden tankards, and a chorus of off-key hymns that rise and fall like tides. Long tables fill the hall, benches scarred by generations of elbows and belt buckles; beeswax candles and iron sconces throw amber light over braziers of low, smoky fire. The air is thick with honey-sweet mead, wood smoke, and the occasional tang of iron from a chip of old ritual silver behind the bar. Worship icons — braided ribbons, carved oaken runes, and a battered brass horn — hang beside merchant flyers and lost mittens, a holy clutter that makes the place feel equal parts temple and tavern.
A carved wooden roundel hung from a wrought-iron bracket: a laughing, bearded face mid-toast; the paint is flaked and sticky with old honey and mead. A ring of dents and a single fresh scorch mark are visible where tankards have struck it.

Brenn's Boon
5 spA measure of warmed mead steeped with starflower and a pinch of iron — it smooths a heavy heart and gives the drinker advantage on a single Charisma (Performance) check for the next hour if they join a toast.

Fenn of the Half-Deck
A salt-marked ex-sailor who swears he once saw the city's sewers light up like aurora — and that something valuable slid into the current below.
Old Nissa
A retired ritualist who hums ancient hymns and mends braids of holy ribbon; she knows when a blessing is counterfeit.
1
The reliquary splinter: Traders whisper that a small saintly relic was stolen from the River Shrine and smuggled into Cayden's Hall; a cleric named Merek of the White Strand will pay well for its return.
2
The flooded vault: Fenn claims a merchant vault beneath the eastern quay collapsed into a hidden current; a carved oak chest washed past the saltgate three nights ago and a map may show where it sank.
3
The watchman's ledger: Sergeant Jorek has been keeping a ledger of bribes and names that someone is killing to bury; a hooded figure has been asking around the Hall for those entries.
